Isn't it just two anagrams of versions of Kendall's name?
So undoing (anagrammatising) lamia gurdleneck gives maurice g kendall
and KAC Manderville gives Mavrice Kendall.
Wasn't there an anagram of stuart as well?

Dear All
This is intriguing, can you supply the original quotation please?
> Try anagrams - Clearly Maurice George Kendall comes out of 'The Undoing of
> Lamia Gurdleneck - K A C Manderville'. I'm not sure about what remains.
Note that Maurice Kendall = K A C Manderville, if you allow for u = v
Did either Stuart or Kendall have a sense of humour?
