I'm planning a prospective study to assess differences in patients
corresponding to different temporal evolutions of a certain biomarker.
Given my intention to address the analysis by a mixed effects model for
repeated data with biomarker measurements as response and risk factors
as fixed effects, can anybody point me in the direction of how to
properly select the sample? Essentially the medical staff asks me about
the number of repeated measurements of the marker to take (expensive)
and the number of patients to consider (and so if it is the case to
consider a multi center study). I do have pilot retrospective data to
check variability issues.
