Assistant Professor Position in the Research Methodology Program

The Research Methodology Program in the School of Education at the
University of Pittsburgh is seeking a quantitative methodologist with
interests in statistics, psychometrics, mathematical models, and/or
assessment. The tenure-stream position is at the Assistant Professor
level (beginning August 2003), however, strong candidates with
experience beyond the beginning Assistant Professor level are also
encouraged to submit their credentials. Primary responsibilities
include teaching graduate courses in educational research methodology at
both entry and advanced levels, maintaining a strong record of
scholarship, supervising theses and dissertations, advising students at
the master’s and doctoral levels, and serving as a resource to the
Department, the School and the University.
The person hired is expected to effectively teach introductory and
advanced quantitative methods, and expected to maintain a strong record
of scholarship in statistical or psychometric methods applied to
educational and psychological research. An area of research may include
(but is not limited to) hierarchical/generalized linear modeling,
structural equation modeling, missing data methodologies, Bayesian
methodologies such as Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling, and
psychometric models and their applications to educational problems. The
faculty member hired is also expected to participate in relevant
professional organizations and to engage in internal and/or community
service activities. Internal service activities may occur at the
Program, Department, School, or University level. Applying for external
