MRC CLINICAL TRIALS UNIT
Medical Statistician
Salary up to £26,310 p.a. inc.
The Cancer Division (formerly the MRC Cancer Trials Office) is responsible
for the co-ordination of a number of randomised trials in cancer treatment.
The Division currently numbers around 40 staff, including statisticians,
programmers, trial physicians, and trials managers.
Ideally, we are seeking to attract an individual with at least 1-2years
experience in the analysis of medical studies. Experience in statistical
packages such as SAS, STATA and /or SPSS is essential. The applicant should
preferably have a postgraduate qualification in medical statistics (or a
closely related subject), such as an MSc or Phd. Excellent computer and
communication skills (both oral and written) are needed as well as the
ability to become familiar with the relevant literature (clinical trials and
cancer). The statistician will work on a variety of trials under
supervision of a senior statistician. Opportunities exist for methodological
research of practical relevance to the work of the Unit.
This appointment, will be for 2 years in the first instance with a
possibility of extension, salary will include Location Allowance and Central
London Supplement. The salary is dependent on qualifications, previous
experience and will be negotiable for exceptional candidates.
