The preface to "SPSS" by Nie, Bent and Hull, McGraw-Hill 1970# describes
the conception and development of SPSS. While it was initially conceived
by Bent and Nie as graduate students in June 1965, I believe that Hull was
a computer scientist. There are acknowledgements to Stanford Computer
Center and Lissner Computer Services, as well as personal acknowledgements
for specific routines. The program has been continuously developed since,
and the company has - in my experience - been receptive to users' comments
and willing to engage in debate. [log in to unmask] hosts the
SPSSX-L list which has over 1000 members.
If required, the standard errors of the predicted values can be saved for
each case.
