Hi All,
I have the following problem.
I have a process that consists of 3 operations, A B and C, each operation
takes a certain number of hours
I have X items that go though the process.
Total throughput time is defined as the time it takes an item
to go through all 3 operations A+B+C.
My goal is set such that the 85th percentile of my data for the total
throughput time is less that or equal to N hours.
I am working with medians/percentiles as there are outliers in my data.
I would like to look at the performance of the individual operations
A, B and C as a way of improving my overall throughput time.
For example I cannot look at the 85th percentile of individual
operations as a guide for meeting my overall throughput target?
Is there a way to relate individual operation times to the
total throughput time, using medians or percentiles?
Any thoughts/suggestions as to how I might tackle this problem
would be most appreciated.
Regards,
Richard.
