But there's alot of ports to chose from - 8080 and 9673 seem
popular as I recall.

True enough. It could be tidier. It does, however, illustrate another
major plus with the Apache + Zope recipe: any URL ending "/manage"
can be redirected over https. Because you have to authenticate to
get at the Zope management screens, and because we've hooked up
this authentication to our campus-wide NT domain (and this
is from Apache and Zope running on Solaris - neat stuff), we treat
usernames and passwords very carefully (as we move towards single-sign
on they become very precious).

We get rather exasperated with software like Dreamweaver or Blackboard
(to name but many) that doesn't support SSL. Another advantage of
open source .... you can add good security.
