EMBARGO BREAKS
A reminder to all our users, both journalists and contributors. Embargo
breaks on press releases carried on the site will not be tolerated.
Failure to comply will result in suspension or removal from the service.
IS IT NEWS?
As a contributor, this should be your number one question. Press releases
about a conference or press event held two days ago are not news and will
not be accepted on AlphaGalileo. Ensure you only submit relevant and
topical material. For more guidance on writing a press release for
AlphaGalileo please visit
<http://www.alphagalileo.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=ShowPage&pageid=14>.

ADDING PICTURES - IT'S EASY
Want to increase the allure of your release to journalists? All it takes
is a few extra seconds to attach a picture while you are completing the
posting form.
Directly under the list of keywords for your release there is an
underlined sentence 'Please click here to attach non-text files'. Click
this sentence and a small window opens. To upload an image, click on the
browse button and you will see the file list from your own computer.
Select the file you wish to upload (usually by double clicking it). Once
you have added a description and allocated the correct file type, click
on the upload button. Then either add more images or click 'Done'
Pictures need to be in either GIF or JPEG format, no more than 200k and
100 pixels high. If you do not have an application to reduce higher
resolution images, email them as attachments to us and we will be happy
to add them to your release for you.
And don't forget, you can use the same method to add sound files, video
clips or PDFs.
-------------------------------
GOING ON HOLIDAY?
With the holiday season upon us, we have been getting requests to suspend
email alerts sent to users. You can do this yourself at any time by
logging on and clicking 'set alerts' in the left hand menu.
Close to the bottom of the page you can select the regularity of your
alerts. One of the options is to suspend. Select this, then click submit
and all your AlphaGalileo email alerts will be suspended until you are
ready to change the setting back to your usual selection.

ALPHAGALILEO AT THE FESTIVAL
This year's British Association's Festival of Science is being held at
Leicester University 8 - 13 September. The AlphaGalileo Team will be
dividing its staff between this and the HEERA conference being held
simultaneously in Nottingham. Please take the opportunity to meet us at
either of these events and bring your technical queries or constructive
criticisms.

NEW PARTNERS
We are very pleased to announce that Sweden has now joined the
AlphaGalileo project and Swedish will soon be available as a language on
the site.
We are also in discussion with potential partners in the Netherlands,
Spain and Ireland. If your organisation would like to be part of the
management group representing your country on the site, please contact
