'Twas my finest cloak I used there, Martin, I've been told off for my
wastefulness. Neo-Elizabethanism though, like its origin-all, does depend on
a certain extravagance of gesture.
But Alison hasn't yet told you all the worst story about those camps - it
left me close to tears. Otherwise one just imagines the reality of it - how
bad a living situation must be to make people do something like that - one
only has to imagine for an instant the pain of sewing up one's lips.
Shudder.

Thanks for the information, Alison ~ also Rob, whose comment on Mr Ruddock I
endorse; he would seem to be a particularly unpleasant specimen of the
politician type. I can understand David's (aka Swissa Swassa) admiration of
the protesters' <eloquent speech>, but the main effect on me of the whole
scene is nausea & sadness.
