ORGS SEMINAR
Tuesday 22nd October 2002
6 for 6:30pm
Speaker is James Gibb, President of the Operational Research Society
"Great disasters (and a few triumphs) in an OR career"
James Gibb started in the OR Executive of the National Coal Board in 1966
and retired from Shell in 2000. For most of that time he was working in OR.
Some of it went very well. Other bits of it were a learning experience. On
the assumption that things going wrong are always more entertaining than
things going right, he will reflect on the what he has learned (and failed
to learn) in the last 36 years. He will also touch on some of the "big
issues" facing the OR Society in the next few years.
Room 886, Department of Management Science, University of Strathclyde,
