ACADEMIC-RELATED ADMINISTRATIVE GRADE 4: Salary £29,709 - £35,249 p.a. (with a discretionary range to £40,578)
The University provides a stimulating OH environment, because of its rich portfolio of world-class research and its varied occupations and organisational cultures. The OHS covers the University's 8,000 staff and the OH (but not primary care) needs of its students. The OHS also advises some external clients and an expansion would be encouraged. In all aspects, the University promotes a proactive, strategic, and business-like approach to OH. The OHS currently has three nurse posts, 1.7 FTE medical posts, 2.6 clerical posts and a panel of external counsellors. It has well-equipped premises in central Oxford, shared with the University Safety Office. The University has excellent library and IT resources, offers a contributory pension scheme, and car parking. Joining a friendly team, led by a part-time consultant, you will be responsible for all day-to-day operations and will lead on strategic issues according to your background and interests. We are looking for a senior practitioner whose reputation is respected regionally and/or nationally and who is actively involved in leading role(s) in occupational health initiatives and networks. The personal qualities we are looking for include high professional standards, excellent communication and influencing skills, a positive and problem-solving approach, and an interest in taking forward an evolving service. You must have at least five years substantial and varied OH experience, preferably in the public and private sectors, with a recognised OH qualification and at least two years experience in a senior role, with responsibility for junior staff and/or personal responsibility for a particular sector of OH work. Previous experience advising a university would be an advantage. Informal enquiries to Mrs J. Mead or Dr K.M. Venables (Tel: 01865 282677; E-mail: [log in to unmask]). Informal visits are encouraged. Further particulars from Mrs J. Pengelly (Tel: 01865 270128; E-mail: [log in to unmask]) or downloadable from http://www.admin.ox.ac.uk/fp/. Application is by curriculum vitae, with a covering letter and the names of two referees addressed to Mrs J. Williams, University Offices, Wellington Square, Oxford OX1 2JD. The closing date is 23 September 2002. Interviews will be held on Wednesday 9 October.
