Why did people leave Stafford and go to Spain?
And to where in Spain would they have gone? I have been given Linares,
Almaden (?), Rio Tinto and Leon as possible places because of the
mining.
I presume they would have had to sail to Spain.
To where would they sail in the 1840s - from what port (since they lived
in
Stafford) to what port in Spain?
Would there be shipping records?
How would I go about locating these records?
John PERKES' father was a collier/miner in the late 1790, early 1800s -
Cheslyn Hay, Wryley areas
John PERKES was an engineer (for all intents and purposes, he could have
been a miner) - Sedgley, Bloxwich area
His wife's father was a miner
Charles Robert PERKES was born in "Spain" to John PERKES and Mary
TRANTER.
I am still trying to locate his birth place and year - approx. 1849-1851
