This will need re-writing to move it away from the 'library-centric' view.
I'm looking at it now (for the first time, being an ex-IIS person), and
although I see things there that are obviously relevant to my former role as
an information intermediary, carrying out online searches for clients, one
has to read between the lines and extrapolate to make it cover my work in
database maintenance and current activities in website creation and
management.
For example:
Under section (2d), does 'clients' cover all potential viewers of our
websites, or is it the team who have commissioned the site in question? This
is a very relevant issue - coming from a pseudo-library background, I opt
for the former interpretation but most of the people I work with go for the
latter, which can bring us into conflict.
Under section (2e), it sounds as if this wording would oblige me to ensure
full backwards compatibility with ancient browsers.
> para 2f states that where public interest or the reputation of the
> profession are at variance with the narrower interests of an
> employer, the
> former must be the primary considerations'
This is a bit worrying, too. Who defines 'public interest'?
