OK Kayla - I'll come right out and say it: it's the purely COMMERCIAL world
that I believe is on the other side of that gulf (from
Public/Academic/Government-Corporate). I just can't see the employers who do
the hiring & firing in the City / legal / banking /accountancy /management
firms looking on Chartership (with its echoes - if it means anything to them at
all - of the label "chartered librarian") as anything but an anachronism, and
without relevance to their world.
Perhaps CILIP should change the name - it definitely needs to change the image
if the qualification is to carry any weight in the nasty brutish world of
commerce!
