PURCHASING SKILLS: AN INTRODUCTION
11 July, London
Many librarians are part-time buyers and are expected to make buying
decisions and to deal with suppliers and sales representatives. Whereas most
supplier representatives have received extensive training on sales and
customer relations, few librarians have received any formal training on how
to get value for money out of the buying process.
BENEFITS FROM ATTENDING
This one-day workshop is specifically designed to equip librarians who are
part-time or novice buyers with an overview of the basic purchasing skills.
Participants will examine the purchasing cycle and explore the contribution
that they can make to improve purchasing value for money in their job. By
the end of the day participants will understand the various stages of the
purchasing cycle and will be more confident in dealing with suppliers.
BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:
* an overview of the purchasing cycle
* basic skills in negotiation
* the confidence to deal effectively with sales representatives
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
