THE JOHN RYLANDS UNIVERSITY LIBRARY OF MANCHESTER
ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN (HEALTH SCIENCES) (REF 154/02)
Based in the Library's Information Resources and Services (IRS)
Division, your primary role will be to support the Faculty Librarian
for Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy in all of her duties. In
particular, you will assist in developing the Library's collections in
those areas and provide a wide range of user services, including
answering enquiries and providing user education and database
training. In addition, you will participate in the overall work of the
IRS Division. You should have a good honours degree (or equivalent)
and a qualification in librarianship or information science (or
equivalent). Strong communication, interpersonal and team-working
skills are essential, as are good presentation/training skills. Some
previous experience in an academic library setting would be an
advantage, as would prior knowledge or experience of health science
disciplines. Applications are welcomed from newly qualified
librarians. Salary is on the academic related scale 1 or 2, depending
on experience (£17,626 to £26,491 per annum).
