Here is the handbook describing a course which I developed for our Crichton
Campus in Dumfries, and which was delivered in semester 1 of 1999-2000 as a
compulsory core module to all 80 first year students. If you're interested,
I can say a lot more about it, or send some of the materials. I carried out
an extensive evaluation of the course which showed the vast majority of
students found it very valuable - but I should note that the cohort contains
an unusually high proportion of part-time and mature students, and that
there were on the other hand a small minority (all school leavers) whose
reaction was very negative. I can say more on this if people are
interested, or off-list if you prefer.

Subject: Integrating information skills with study skills
Dear Colleagues
Does anybody have any experience of integrating information skills
and/ or IT skills training (information literacy) with traditional study
skills? This is what we are trying to do here at St Mary's and I
would like to see examples of simillar approaches. Our outline pilot
course (which we hope to get validated next year) is at

Regards
Martin.
