Dear All
Please find below the text of an email I have sent to Sam at BLDSC.
Can I please ask those of you who support what I have written to also email Sam with your views - she will take our comments to the appropriate people at BLDSC.

Dear Sam
I have now a report for a request that has gone to London to chase again in 2 weeks. We have already been asked to chase again in three weeks. This is now a total of five weeks.
I also note in my collection of Reports Intray that five more requests just for the Kedleston Road site have gone to London. Presumably we are going to have to wait at least five weeks if not more for these.
This is not at all satisfactory - BLDSC, knowing there is a huge delay in London should reconsider how they deal with these requests. In my opinion BLDSC should be returning these to us giving us the option of finding alternative locations. It's unreasonable to virtually hand them over not knowing how long it's going to take and not being allowed the option of cancelling them.
To make matters worse it's time consuming to check every request in advance on the BL OPAC and I for one am suffering desperate staff shortages at the moment. Not a practical proposition!
We could always pay twice - find an alternative location and pay up when the London request arrives. Not acceptable really either!!
So come on British Library - let's have a sensible solution!
