Dear ILL Folk
I am just back from my hols, so perhaps this is why I am bold enough to
start thinking about copyright and document supply.
Most of you will know that there is a new European Directive on
Copyright which is to be incorporated into UK law. There is a
consultation document about it on the following URL
http://www.patent.gov.uk/about/consultations/eccopyright/index.htm
One of the proposals is to introduce a distinction between copying for
commercial research and non-commercial research.
Has anyone any comments about the Consultation Document? I am trying
to put together reactions from ILL Librarians as a response for FIL and
I'd be very glad if you would let me have any thoughts you may have
about this.
For anyone interested, LACA (Library and Archives Copyright Alliance)
is organising meetings too - see http://www.cilip.org.uk/committees/laca/laca.html
Thanks for reading this far too, and I look forward to your comments.
Jean
