Resource Invitation to tender
Mapping existing arrangements and preparation of models for initial teacher=
training to be undertaken in partnership with Initial Teacher Training pro=
viders and museums, archives and libraries in England
In the document Qualifying to Teach the Teacher Training Agency has acknowl=
edged that a proportion of the total time spent on practical teaching pract=
ice by a trainee teacher could be spent in a setting other than a school. R=
esource: The Council for Museums, archives and libraries feels strongly tha=
t museums, archives and libraries have a valuable contribution to make towa=
rds teacher training and would like to progress work in this area further. =

In order to gain an overview of existing practices, and to take forward wor=
k in this area, Resource wishes to engage a consultant(s) to:
* undertake a mapping exercise to reveal the extent of existing relationsh=
ips between museums, archives and libraries and initial teacher training pr=
oviders
* building on identified best practice develop pilot models for initial te=
acher training projects to be run during the summer term of 2004
