We are lucky enough to have a campus computer store, which is also an
agent for a local high-speed commercial ISP. I regularly drop by to test
our resources on a machine connected to that ISP. I've found it very
useful for testing our proxy server and setting up browsers. A lot of our
users now have high-speed connections from home. I would like to have a
similar setup in the library, so that we could show users how to set up
their browsers. Thanks for reminding me to get right on it...
By the way...we have a script running on:
http://library.usask.ca/connectfromhome.html
which lets people immediately know if their proxy is set up properly. It's
cut down on a lot of phone calls.
