Dear All
Reading some of the messages here reminds me of my thoughts on the subject!
I wonder just how long these no cancellation policies by publishers are sustainable? How many years are we going to be forced into taking journals we'd otherwise cancel simply because it's tied up with an electronic deal?
In today's uncertain climate, university courses come and go so titles required one year may not be the next. Nor may it be appropriate to substitute a new title for a cancelled one.
At the beginning when these deals first came on the table then perhaps a no cancellations policy was just about justifiable but years later it's harder to sustain.
Some sort of standard pricing model for print and electronic is required that is easy to understand and doesn't force us down routes we can barely afford!!!
