Dear All,
First, I apologise to those of you who receive multiple copies of this
email, or who have already registered.
The International Conference on Physical Modelling in Geotechnics will be
held from July 10-12, 2002 in The Fairmont Newfoundland, St John's, NF,
Canada. The conference is sponsored by ISSMGE-TC2 and the CGS. Conference
Bulletin No. 2 is available from our website http://www.c-core.ca/icpmg,
which has Online Registration available. A 1 day 40 person workshop at
Memorial University on use of geotechnical physical modelling in education
will be held on Tuesday 9 July, probably sponsored by NSF.
There are 4 reasons for this reminder:
1) please email [log in to unmask] THIS WEEK if you wish to be mailed Bulletin
#3 and local tourist information.
2) as a REMINDER that EARLY REGISTRATION for the conference ENDS at MAY 25,

lecturers include Dr Richard Bathurst (CGS VP Technical), Dr Jacques Garnier
(2001 French Coulomb Lecturer), Dr Osamu Kusakabe (Editor Int Jnl Physical
Modelling in Geotechnics) and Dr Suzanne Lacasse (CGS President elect).
We have another 160 papers on physical modelling using not only centrifuges
but also calibration chambers, 1g facilties, downward hydraulic gradient
devices and shake-tables. These papers are from 24 countries including:
Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Singapore,
Taiwan, UK & USA. Over 110 of these papers will be presented in 22 oral
