Why shouldn't they.  The engineering geotech community is a very small community with many current problems in terms of staff retention / enticement to join the industry / wage structure etc.

After all you don't have to read all postings.

I agree!  If people are looking for a job then there are plenty of places for them to look.  I can't conceive that a service hosted (and therefore paid for) by an academic university should be allowed to be used freely by commercial users to aid their businesses.  I think I might argue that it's OK to use the facility if a University is looking for a student or staff member (though I'd rather they just posted a link to www.jobs.ac.uk ), but such use must be limited if the service is to meet its primary purpose of providing a technical exchange forum.

    Description: Senior Geotechnical Candidate. 

    This is a permanent position based in the Warrington office of this well reputed company. You will be working alongside established teams of environmental, railways, highways, structures and telecommunications specialists.

    Principal duties:
    · Project management & technical input to commissions typically involving desk studies, site investigations, feasibility studies, interpretative reports, and detailed design of retaining walls, earthworks, foundations etc. Our client base currently includes contractors, government agencies, developers, utility providers, industrial companies and other business units

    Ensure projects delivered to programme and within budget.
    · Supervise more junior staff assigned to projects for which responsible.
    · Interface with clients in support of the successful delivery of projects.
    · As required, participate in the business development activities of the group. 

     

    Qualifications: 

    First degree in civil engineering or engineering geology
    · Applicants possessing a second degree in geotechnical engineering or a related subject and either chartered or approaching chartered status will be preferred. 

     

    Experience: 

    · Minimum 8 years relevant post graduation experience
    · Previous employment experience with consulting engineers or contractors
    · Good awareness of commercial, as well as technical, issues
    Projects will be primarily geotechnical, but some contaminated land work may be involved. Therefore, candidates with a good working knowledge of current contaminated land legislation and remediation practice will have an advantage. 

     

    Engineering Geologist

     

    We are currently looking for a candidate with 3 years minimum experience within evaluation of excavation and drilling feasibility, Grouting reviews, Design of excavations and grouting programmes, rock mechanics. This position is at Staff Engineer Level and you will require MSc/PhD in Rock Mechanics / Mining.

     

    Location Manchester

     

     

    Bridge Engineers

     

    We are also looking for Bridge Engineers with 2 years plus experience Design, Inspection and Assessment of Bridges. Project Management of Refurbishment and Strengthening Schemes. Based Beds

     

     

    Structural/Foundation Engineers

     

    Structural/Foundation Engineers to undertake design of building structures; liaison with structural technicians. You will require a Degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of two years post graduation experience. Based Ireland.
