Dear List Members
In light of the previous discussions on designs for ground anchors. My
understanding of the standards indicated (BS8081 and EN1537) is that
they deal with grouted ground anchors and I have not found any reference
to the design of mechanical ground anchors (or even grouted mechanical
anchors) in these documents
I have been informed that the mechancial anchors can be assessed using
the end bearing element of the equations given in BS8081. However this
would lead to some interesting uses of "engineering judgement" in terms
of bearing capacity factors etc.
Does anybody have any more light to shed on the subject. I am loath to
ask for the usual plea for references, but they may be useful.
Many thanks in advance.
