When I have time, I'll see what I can find in the Manchester local history
collection. I found some interesting stuff a couple of years ago about Carl
Schorlemmer, a close friend of Marx and Engels, who was also the first
professor of organic chemistry at Manchester University and provided them
with scientific information used in 'Capital' and 'Dialectics of Nature'.
Another legal Marxist connection to Manchester is the blue plaque to Ernest
Jones, which describes him as a 'barrister at law'.
