British jurist. Judge in Manchester, legal adviser of Marx and Engels (being
their
close personal friend). Member of the International. Translated the
Communist Manifesto into
English (1888 translation). Did likewise, jointly with Edward
Aveling, with volume one of
Capital.

I'd like to know how Moore contrived to combine being a judge in Victorian
Britain with membership of the International.
