How to involve students in assessment and course evaluation
2nd December 2002
65 Davies Street, London
Cost: 150.00
booking: http://www.cltad.ac.uk or email [log in to unmask]
Background/Issues
You can tell from some of the language we use about education that,
although we sometimes claim that students are partners, there is
often a real difference in power and authority. Two of the areas
where that difference really holds back students' learning are
assessment and giving feedback for course evaluation.
Participants
This is a session designed for lecturers, module leaders and course
organisers - anyone with the responsibility to design and conduct
assessment or gather student evaluation.
Aims
To explore how fairly small changes in attitudes and teaching
processes can have fairly substantial effects on students' capacity
to control and manage their own learning.
Outcomes
Practical experience of straightforward processes which can be easily
adapted to suit local departmental requirements.
Process
Presentations, discussion, case studies
