Hi Jie
Don't know wether you've had many responses to your request. We too are
using 5.5.1 on Windows 2000 on two servers, the application server and the
database server. We back up the main databases in SQL (master, model, msdb,
portalserver and bb50) using SQL backup to a separate area on the drive,
then back up that area using Veritas BackupExec.
On the application server we backup the entire contents of the
blackboard\docs directory again using BackupExec.
We have just tested the restore through a disaster recovery scenario and
seemed to restore fine. Installed win2000, blackboard software and patches
etc, as normal then restored application server first then SQL databases one
by one (restoring the master database first in 'single user' mode).
I don't know the official line on what to backup but this has proved
successful for us.

Subject: back up process
Hi,
We have just started with Bb at Leicester and wondered if anyone could help
on the proper backup process. We are using Bb 5.5.1 on a Windows 2000
platform.
1) Is there any documented backup procedure by Bb, if so where can I find
it?
2) Any of your own recommendations for a backup and disaster recovery plan?
Much appreciated for your help.
