Call for New Recruits for the Quality Leaders' Project
Tuesday 23 July 2002
The Quality Leaders' Project is a short course management development
programme aimed at black and minority ethnic public library and information
professionals in the public sector throughout the UK. Led by University of
North London, the programme addresses the dual challenges of providing best
practice for black and minority ethnic communities and equal employment
opportunities
for public library and information workers from those communities. Resource
has provided funding for the project.
Having successful completed the Quality Leaders' Project, public library
and information workers will have enhanced their ability to reach more
senior management positions. The programme consists of either a six-month,
part-time or full-time programme of work-based learning. The learners will
develop a range of leadership and managerial skills and, at the end of the
project, devise a service
development proposal for their library service based upon original research
into the needs of the local communities.
Rajiv Anand, Resource's Cultural Diversity Development Officer, said: "The
Quality Leaders' Project will provide the public libraries domain with
innovative ways for black and ethnic minority library and information staff
to increase their skills through development and mentoring, enabling them
to further develop their careers."
Recruitment is taking place throughout July and early August. For further
details and an application pack please contact: Dr Dean Bartlett, Deputy
Director, Management Research Centre, University of North London, 227-281,
