Both are available on the web. There are many books.
The East India Co. had a monopoly of trade to the 'East' until 1813, I
think. It brought in all the tea the Brits drank. It also brought the
saltpetre from India that was the main ingredient for gunpowder.
Slave-produced tobacco, sugar, cotton from North America and the Caribbean
colonies gave work to many during the 19th century in Britain.
