This symposium is to address the Victorian notion that art was a civilizing
agency. You might consider education for women in the arts, home arts,
educating others, institutions like the Kyrle and the Home Arts and
Industries Association and the WI, Settlements like Toynbee Hall,
Collection forming and bequests.
