At a recent meeting of its Learning & Teaching Committee, The Surrey
Institute of Art & Design, University College considered whether it was
appropriate to permit alternative forms of submission of a dissertation
(including, for example, an interactive CD-ROM). The question originally
arose with respect to dyslexic students, but it was agreed that if an
alternative submission were permitted, then it might have a more general
application and be available to all students.
Iit was agreed that, before any decision was taken on possible alternative
forms of submission, information should be sought on practice across the
sector.
I should be grateful if colleagues could let me know whether they permit
alternative forms of submission; and if so, both the forms which are
permitted, and any restrictions imposed. I would be particularly
interested to hear from other specialist art & design institutions, but
obviously all responses are welcome.
Could I ask colleagues to reply direct to me; if I receive a sufficient
level of response, I would be happy to post the summary back to the
mailing list.
Cheers
Jon
