Dear Jean-Paul
Thank you for your enquiry.
At RSAMD we have Braille signage on doors around the Academy. Our prospectus and information is available on cassette. UK students can aply for a Disabled Students' Allowance to help them buy appropriate computer equipemnt to support them in their studies, or use note takers.
On the Acadmey website at www.rsamd.ac.uk you may access the Information for Students with Disabilities, which outlines the support offered.
I hope this is useful.
Yours sincerely
Jane Balmforth

Colleagues, please excuse double (or worse, triple) postings. I have been asked by our Administration to investigate what
other institutions offer to help partially, or fully blind students succeed in their studies. Do you have special audio/visual equipment (Braille etc.), special computer hardware or software such as voice recognition and response? Are there special collections of printed or recorded materials? Do you offer the services of people to read to visually handicapped students or to take notes. I realize your office may not be directly involved but I hope you can either reply or pass on the request. In our case we have no formal mechanism to help blind students, though 1 has graduated and we have 5 more enrolled. They have special problems in courses that tend to rely on visual prompts for learning such as a second language (in our case English since Arabic is their mother tongue) or computer skills. Thank you for your assistance
