Great Britain is the eighth largest island in the world, and the
second-largest English-speaking island. Actually Baffin Island is the
largest English-speaking island, but 80% of its 13,000 residents are Inuit.
The island has average temparatures above freezing only two months a year,
and only two restaurants. Essentially, then, Britain is the world's largest
predominantly English-speaking island.
The planet features thousands and thousands of islands. Maybe millions.
Why would you want to prima facie exclude Great Britain? Of course Britain
is neither necessary nor sufficient for English language poetry, but
still....

I think there is too - I'm not interested in Ancient History (however many
months ago it happened and however pretty the fire) but I would be
interested in a list with a smallinsignificantenglishspeakingislands
perspective....
