Yes. I take the point on there always being a few fanatics, such as the
caustic-soda wielding Scots, but I really meant the terrorist organisations
(Hamas / Real IRA for want of other example off the top of my head) - after
all, when their original aims have been met, it's difficult to imagine them
back at their allotment or working in the local newsagents. I'm aware this
isn't a great argument or (and god forbid it shuld be taken this way) a
reason/excuse why solutions shouldn't be pursued vigorously, it's just an
expression of my recurring pessimism I guess! I think inevitably sympathy
goes to the innocent people suffering on all sides of such disputes, the
same people who are, to a large extent, quite powerless in the situation.
