hey, Lawrence
one could say some of those things about almost all of us, except for
Harriet, it might be flawed but my point was it does say 'poetry matters'.
See you at Sub-Voicive in the near future btw, I get my freedom shortly so I
plan a few trips to the Smoke.

as lively as a virus, sad and nasty
Duncan is an extremely bright man and has interesting things to say -
sometimes - when he reads closely
he is potentially useful at pointing to books which might be neglected - I
see Goacher _Logbook_ and Wevill _Christ on the ice floes_ in a list. I
bought those first time round so I know he's right
but he rarely follows through, though it is clearly his ambition to present
a Big Picture; because, I think, it limits his scope for sneering
and he likes sneering
and he likes generalising. the wrong way round
I sense - and I cannot justify this at all - that he has some dread or set
of dreads about himself which he deals with by attacking others
he has good insights and buries them under assertive venom
what a noble mind is, here and there, o'erthrown
don't encourage him until he moves on from being a very promising but
immature sixth former... there's enough libel around
