FRISNO-7
THE EUROPEAN/FRENCH-ISRAELI SYMPOSIUM ON NONLINEAR AND QUANTUM OPTICS
Les Houches, France
February 16-21, 2003
Web site: www.weizmann.ac.il/frisno
***Deadline for Submission of Abstracts... November 1, 2002***
Dear Colleague,
As you know, FRISNO-7, the Seventh European/French Israeli Symposium on
Nonlinear and Quantum Optics, which was scheduled initially to take place
in Ein Gedi in Israel, last February, has been postponed by one year and
has been relocated to take place in France. The Symposium will now be held
in Les Houches, in the French Alps between February 16 and 21, 2003.
The series of FRISNO symposia has been going on for over decade, bringing
together a scientific community dedicated to Nonlinear and Quantum Optics
from Israel, France, the rest of Europe, the US, Japan, and Russia. Keeping
up with the tradition, this upcoming meeting will provide an excellent
opportunity to renew old connections and form new ones. We sincerely hope
you will be joining us in Les Houches next February, to present your latest
results, and make contact with the other participants.
As in the past, the main sessions for oral presentations will be held in
the mornings and in the late afternoons, and the evenings will be dedicated
to the poster sessions. The afternoons will be free for binary or many-
body interactions, while exploring the gravitational potential surfaces
around the Physics Center. Because of limited capacity of the auditorium
in Les Houches, attendance will be limited to approximately 70
participants.
The Centre de Physique des Houches is located in a group of mountain
chalets surrounded by meadows, woods and ski slopes at an altitude of 1150
meters. It is above the village of Les Houches, facing the Mont-Blanc range.
SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
The symposium will cover topics within the general context of nonlinear and
quantum optics, including such subjects as:
propagative phenomena, (including work on optical fibers and solitons),
solid-state optical processes, (semiconductor optics, novel nonlinear
materials,...),
molecular and biological media (biomedical imaging, single molecule
monitoring...),
quantum systems, (quantum information processing, ultracold atoms, BEC)
extreme optics, (ultrashort interactions, high precision metrology, strong
fields,...)
A Partial List of FRISNO Invited Speakers includes:
CLAUDE COHEN TANNOUDJI
BERTRAND GIRARD
TED HAENSCH
DAVID HANNA
SERGE HAROCHE
PHILLIP RUSSELL
DAVID TANNOR
HERBERT WALTHER.

SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS AND REGISTRATION
Original contributions in the field of Nonlinear and Quantum Optics can be
submitted for presentation at FRISNO-7. Based on previous experience,
poster sessions were a great success, so all participants (including
invited speakers) are encouraged to submit more than one abstract.
Abstracts can be sent by e-mail to [log in to unmask] They must be in
the form of Word or Latex files and should not exceed two pages. The first
page should include the title, the names, affiliations and the complete
address (including e-mail) of the corresponding author. Preference on the
mode of presentation (oral or poster) may be indicated.
Registration without submitting abstracts should be done by sending an
email to [log in to unmask]
The conference web site, www.weizmann.ac.il/frisno , is constantly
