Dear Mavis,
I am looking at a different slant to the issue of low birth weight. We again know who is having them etc, but we are unsure of how well we detect these pregnancies.
I am looking at a project to investigate how midwives utilise skills in detecting small for gestational age infants.
Also I am investigating the theory that continuity of carer leads to greater detection of SGA.
The ultimate aims are to devise training programes to ensure consistency of practice.
This work only started last month- so data still limited.
More than willing to discuss issues.
I know Jason Gardosi, at the west Midlands Perinatal Institute is doing on going research in prevention and detection of sga.
He may be a useful contact
