COMPUTER SUPPORT OFFICER
(Distance Learning Programme)
A part-time (0.5) Computer Support Officer is required for an immediate
start by the Distance Learning Programme of the School. The post
primarily involves maintenance, monitoring and provision of advisory
support for web-based discussion lists. It also involves providing
practical and advisory support (usually via email) to
students/tutors/other relevant staff using CAL-produced materials and
software within the DL Programme. The postholder will assist the Course
Organiser with ongoing revision and updating of CAL materials, and will
also advise and assist on the design and production of future distance
learning CAL-materials and conferencing facilities. Applicants should
have a minimum of one years' proven work experience in a higher
education environment, organising a busy workload, assessing priorities
and working closely within a team. A proven ability to utilise up to
date software and computer programming skills to design and produce CAL
materials plus familiarity with using electronic mail and the internet
are essential. Experience of ToolBook or similar visual programming
packages (e.g. Visual Basic, Authorware or Director) and Stata is
desirable. The ability to maintain quality assurance and record-keeping
systems would also be useful.
The starting salary range will be between #20,052 to #28,830 pro-rata,
according to qualifications, proven experience and parity with other
