Hi there,
In our experience chin rests and brow rests are not much use if you need
real accuracy. Bite bars are fairly uncomforatable and conventional ones are
also not that accurate, however we found a system that works very well which
is a balsawood bite bar.
you need to obtain some 6 mm medium soft balsa. You then cut it into useful
sizes for bite bars (about 25 x 100mm) and sterilise. You can also flavour
them if you want with a sprinkle of cinnamon or similar. The bite bars
should be mouunted on a suitable clamp that aligns the head of subject
biting the bar with your apparatus. The advantage of the balsa over rubber
is that it yields to the teeth which actually penetrate partly and so the
bite bar constrains the teeth in 3 dimensions. The bite is comfortable and
far les tiring and more accurate than a rubber bite bar.
Of coursae the idea is that they are disposable!
