Chris Benson:
I realize now, although not clear from your message
that this originates in the UK, problaly close to
Leeds, West Yorkshire LS2 7PS.
What bothers me (I am in Canada -- and we are just about
to pass legislation regarding the Ontarians with Disabilities,
the ODA -- <http://www.odacommittee.net/>) is the same kind
of concerns.
I haven't read everything yet, and somehow, feel it is related:
<http://www.odacommittee.net/ODA_Bill_125_index.html>
Maybe these "pointers" will give you something to research
further.
Cheers!

Subject: No lifting policies
I am preparing a legal case which involves challenging a local authorities
decision not provide care to a disabled individual at home.
The local authority have applied a lifting ban to all their staff and any
agency staff they fund. This means the individual in question has either
no support or has to move to residentail care.
I am looking for information or research on the national picture and in
particular any work that suggests how many disabled people may be affected
by such policies.
If anyone has produced information on good practice in lifting to protect
support workers from injury or ways around no lifiting policies I would
also apprecite this information.
thank you for your time
