I sent the following message out in late November. A number of people have
conflicts on Sunday morning. Since we have nowhere else to meet but the
OCLC suite and it is not available at any other time, we will begin the
meeting at 8:00 (some people have indicated that they could come if it
were earlier). If you then have to leave for another meeting, go ahead. If
you can stay later, great (we'll go until about 11:30 if people can stay
that long). Bring your coffee along.
The OCLC suite is at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside. We don't know the
room yet. Ask at the front desk.
Hope to see you there.

Subject: DC-Libraries meeting at ALA (fwd)
All:
See below message that went to the "drafting committee" of the
DC-Libraries application profile. This is a small group that has been
working on the draft AP. I would like to tap some others who might be able
to contribute to the discussions and who I expect to be at ALA. Let me
know if you have any questions about this.

Subject: DC-Libraries meeting at ALA
I would like to take the opportunity of having some of us in the same
place at the same time during the American Library Association Midwinter
conference to meet about DC-Lib AP. I realize that many in this group will
not be there, but some will. I think we could have a fruitful session
discussing the many open questions we have about the application
profile. I want to keep the group small so that we can really accomplish
something. However, I do plan to invite a few others outside our group who
have been active in Dublin Core activities who I expect will be attending
ALA.
We have a tentative date and time for meeting. It is Sunday morning
Jan. 20, 9:00-12:00 in the OCLC suite. Thanks to Eric Childress for
reserving the suite (exact location will be forthcoming). Unfortunately
that was the only time it was available. If I find that many cannot attend
at that time we will look at other options.
An agenda will follow, but in summary this will be a working meeting to
work out details for which there is not consensus in the library
application profile. The goal is to have something to submit to the DCMI
Usage Board in March 2002. The Usage Board will then consider any
proposals we have for additional elements or qualifiers. In addition I
would like to submit any encoding schemes not already approved (this
should be a fairly mechanical process).
Please let me know if you expect to be at the American Library Association
Midwinter meeting and might be able to attend. It will be held in New
Orleans from Jan. 19-22.
