Gp's preaching the same message - "that'll be
chocolate"...as I'm alleged to have said (as a junior)
to nurse when asked to script paracetamol at 3 am.
I usually opt for the sympathetic look and an
explanation sheet which I use from mentor, and no,
they don't get antibiotics unless I'm in a real hurry
and need to be elsewhere. (A case of
there...there...try these...NEXT)
(admittedly that IS bad medicine, but it keeps the
clinics short).
Actually, with all the public's self diagnosis these
days we should really have antibiotics etc on display
outside the surgery ( you know like at a grocers) with
a "take one - it's on Mr Blair" message attached.
Then they can take their own responsibility for the
consequences and a handful for their friends 'cause
it's christmas.
Seasons greetings,
Iain ;)
