The MSc Advanced Learning Technology programme module on Networked Learning
begins on January 14th 2002.
> ALT03 is the Advanced Learning Technology (ALT) programme
> (http://csalt.lancs.ac.uk/alt) module on Networked Learning
> (http://csalt.lancs.ac.uk/alt/alt03page.htm). Networked learning integrates
> pedagogy, technology and creativity. Networked learning refers to the use of
> communication and information technologies to promote human-human
> connectivity and interaction for learning/development. Connections may be
> made between one
> learner and other learners; between learners and tutors; between a learning
> community and its learning resources. The connections made may be synchronous
> (as with videoconferencing) or asynchronous (eg email, computer conferencing)
> or both.
> ALT03 addresses (through practical tasks, discussions and a negotiated
> practical work-based assignment) a number of aspects, concepts and
> theoretical
> approaches of relevance to networked learning. These aspects and issues
> include:
> * the notion of a learning community (situated learning and communities
> of practice);
> * computer-supported collaborative learning;
> * issues of time and synchronous/asynchronous networked learning
> technologies;
> * online interaction in a variety of forms eg in text, voice, graphics,
> video, shared workspaces or combinations of these forms
You may take any number of ALT modules in stand-alone mode, paying the
appropriate fee per module (currently £745 each for 18 credit point and £390
each for 9 point modules). If at some point you wish to register on a degree
scheme, the M-level credits you have obtained and the fees you have paid will
be given full recognition.
