Hello,
I'm looking for some advice on where to go for a thorough education
in Instrument / audio component design. I am most interested in a program
that emphasizes the technical design, electrical and mechanical
engineering aspects of instrument and audio component design. Many
programs focus on "music technology" which usually amounts to MIDI
programming, Software programming, digital processing theory etc. This is
of secondary importance to me. I am interested in understanding how to
build a tube amplifier, an electronic keyboard, a guitar pickup, or a
speaker, all from the ground up.
To better give me advice it will be helpful to know that I have a BA
in Theater Arts, 12+ years of music composition, recording and performance
experience and a natural ability to learn math and science concepts,
though I will undoubtedly need to catch up on some math and science.
If anyone has any advice or direction that might narrow down my seemingly
endless search of university catalogues, I would be most appreciative.
