Applications are invited for 2002-3. Its distinctive features include:
* Medical School environment, with direct contact with clinicians;

* Completion in one year of study. The use of specially developed
distance learning materials enables structuring of work commitments around
one day per week of College attendance.
The course pursues ethical issues in medicine and bioethics, including
competence and consent; information disclosure; rationing and justice;
abortion; new reproductive technologies; the new genetics; mental health;
end of life issues; research ethics and the treatment of minors. It also
covers basic moral theory, including consequentialism, conscience, justice
and human rights, virtue ethics and feminist ethics. It is taught by
philosophers and clinicians, and is suitable for graduates of an appropriate
discipline - e.g. philosophy, medicine, law, nursing or theology.
