Dear Jeffery --
We ouught to put or questioner right and let him know tha RK didn't drive.
He was driven by a chauffer. The first Lanchester was I'm pretty sure "Jane
Cakebread" so named after a well known Soho character who had 93 convictions
for being drunk and disorderly in a single year. The next Lanchester,
delivered to Bateman's in September 1902.and which to Henry James delight
was "took with a cataleptic trance" in Rye, was named Amelia.
Thew first car he owned - after the Embryo he hired - was a American steamer
known as The Holy Terror or alternatively Coughing Jane.
Hope this helps Mike
