Dear Colleagues
I have been invited to a two-day meeting in London next week on the theme
of Multi-lingual Europe, organised by Lord Weidenfeld with the British
Council and other bodies. My remit is to speak briefly in Session 3 of the
programme on behalf of German studies in Britain, though I think the main
emphasis is on schools rather university study.
Session III will address "Cooperation between EU countries to promote
language learning."
Themes include:
1- Language teaching as a priority for educational reform
2 - The search for Europeanwide solutions, including the interchange of
teachers and pupils
3 -The potential for innovation in language teaching.
In sending out this plea on the mailbase I can claim to have consulted
widely. Suggestions and bright ideas would be most gratefully received!
Elizabeth
