Early-Childhood
Dear All,
I am forwarding below a message from Debbie Reese about her
recent article on 'Multicultural Picturebooks for the Early Childhood
Classroom' in ECRP (ed. Lilian Katz). The message came to me
via the US Children's Literature academic list, but that I thought
might be of interest to early childhood people.
'Early Childhood Research & Practice' is a free on-line journal
sponsored by ERIC at the University of Illinois. Recent issues
include, for example: the paper mentioned below on 'Multicultual
Picture Books for the Early Childhood Classroom' features on
Reggio Emilia, and ‘Conceptualizing the Professional Role in Early
Childhood Centers: Emerging Profiles in Four European Countries’
by Pamela Oberhuemer from the State Institute of Early Childhood
Education and Research in Munich.
The journal is at:

Best wishes,
Lesley

Subject: On-line educators journal
I'm not sure if I posted information about an on-line
educator's journal that started publication in spring
of 99. It's called Early Childhood Research and Practice.
Maybe I felt it wasn't related closely enough to children's
literature, but my thinking there has changed. Jean
Mendoza and I have an article in the most recent
volume, and its about children's literature in the early
childhood classroom. I've sent some child_lit subscribers
a private note, inviting their feedback on the article. I didn't
post to child_lit as a whole, because that felt self-promotional,
and I didn't want to do that. I still don't, but this morning I was
at ERIC, visiting, and learned that the editors really like the
article Jean and I did, so it got me to thinking.... maybe
someone on child_lit would be interested in submitting
an article for publication in ECRP. It is a peer reviewed
journal; you'll have lots of attention and feedback on
your submission.... and I'd love to add your on-line articles
to my list of reading, especially those related to
children's literature.
Here's the URL for the journal:
